The Crystal Hollows is a randomly-generated Mining area. It is the primary source of Gemstones.

Purpose

Crystal Hollows is a series of caves with randomly generated structures dispersed throughout the area for the players to find. Once in the Crystal Hollows, players can either follow the tunnels, or branch away into the unknown. The stone outside of the tunnels is harder than usual, but very rich in Ores and Gemstones. Gemstones are a new type of ore found in the Crystal Hollows, they are special minerals imbued with power, each Gemstone is affiliated with a different SkyBlock stat.

Once the player levels up their Heart of the Mountain to tier 3, they can talk to Gwendolyn to purchase a Crystal Hollows pass to begin their journey into the Crystal Hollows.

Mining

Inside the Crystal Hollows mined blocks are not replaced with bedrock; instead they are removed. Along with this blocks can be placed in most areas. Ores that require a furnace do not require Smelting Touch to be obtained.

Stone is replaced by Hard Stone within the Crystal Hollows, which is harder to break than Stone. Gemstones, Mithril, and vanilla ores spawn within the Hard Stone.

Treasure Chests

Treasure Chests are chests that can spawn in the Crystal Hollows, either when mining or in pre-determined locations in various structures.

Treasure Chests are loot chests that can spawn when mining in any section of the Crystal Hollows. Treasure Chests can also spawn in pre-determined locations in various structures.

The loot gained from these chests is dependent on the area that you are mining in when the chest spawns.

Treasure Chests have a 0.2% chance of spawning when mining blocks in the Crystal Hollows. This chance can be increased from the following sources:

Treasure Chests have a 95% chance to contain low tier loot, and a 5% chance to contain high tier loot. Loot is rolled 3-6 times per chest.

When Treasure Chests spawn, small particles will be displayed on their front side. Each time you look at the particles, they'll move to a slightly different position, and you have to successfully look at each set of particles 5 times in a row to unlock the chest.

Events

Similar to the Dwarven Mines, Mining Events occur every 20 minutes. These events can reward the players with buffs throughout the Crystal Hollows.

Events	Description
2x Powder	All ᠅ Mithril Powder earned is doubled from this event's start until its end.
Better Together	Players are awarded +500 Mining Speed and +50 Mining Fortune when at least 1 player is within an 10 block radius.
Gone With The Wind	The wind starts blowing from a random direction which frequently changes directions. The wind compass on the scoreboard indicates the direction it is blowing. Facing the direction the wind is blowing grants +600 Mining Speed, decreasing the further the player faces from the wind.

Zones

Zones	Description
Crystal Nucleus	The Crystal Nucleus can be found at the center of the Crystal Hollows. Its main use is to deposit Gemstone Crystals found throughout the Crystal Hollows, rewarding the player with a randomly selected batch of items
Dragon's Lair	The Dragon's Lair is an exceedingly rare zone that has a chance to spawn in Crystal Hollows lobbies within the Mithril Deposits.
Fairy Grotto	The Fairy Grotto itself has different variations that can spawn and it is the main location to find Jasper.
Goblin Holdout	It is home to the Goblin Queen's Den and higher level Goblins than the Goblin Burrows.
Goblin Queen's Den	It is here that the Amber Crystal can be obtained, although the player must sneak past the Queen's Guards.
Jungle Temple	The Jungle Temple is a location found in the Jungle that contains the Amethyst Crystal.
Jungle	Home to the Jungle Temple.
Khazad-dûm	Khazad-dûm is a location found deep in the Magma Fields. It is home to the Bal boss, who must be defeated in order to claim the Topaz Crystal
Lost Precursor City	The Lost Precursor City is a location found in the Precursor Remnants that contains the Sapphire Crystal.
Magma Fields	The Magma Fields is a location found in the Crystal Hollows that can be found below Y64 throughout the whole map.
Mines of Divan	The Mines of Divan are the only area where the Jade Crystal can be obtained by giving Scavenged Items to their corresponding Keeper.
Mithril Deposits	Home to the Mines of Divan.
Precursor Remnants	Home to the Lost Precursor City.

Structures

Each part of the Crystal Hollows has its own main special location, excluding the Magma Fields, which will always generate in every lobby:

3 Fairy Grottos generated anywhere within the Crystal Hollows
The Jungle Temple generated in the Jungle
The Lost Precursor City generated in the Precursor Remnants
The Mines of Divan generated in the Mithril Deposits
The Goblin Queen's Den generated in the Goblin Holdout

Each of these structures house their respective Crystal. A special task must be completed to obtain the Crystal.

Trivia

In the Crystal Hollows certain blocks can be placed by the player, Torches, Ladders, Cobblestone and all variants of Stone such as Hard Stone and Andesite.

		The Crystal Hollows will now contain 3 Fairy biomes.
		Crystal Hollows instances will now last longer (5 hours, instead of 2).
		When entering the Crystal Hollows via a warp (not the Minecart track) it will now put you at a random entrance.
April 18th, 2023	0.18.3	Increased the chance of getting Fairy Souls from fishing in the Crystal Hollows from 0.1% -> 0.5%.
